RollaPath™

Contact: Guy Cotterill  Manager - Specialised NDT Applications

DraglinerollApath is an innovative condition monitoring service that enables the rail surface of a dragline roller path to be assessed by an automated ultrasonic test system. rollApath was designed to locate and trend spalling in the roller path rail segments of draglines, with minimal disruption to normal production. Maintenance planning can be focused according to the condition of the rail segments rather than a service hours based approach.

rollApath was developed in the Hunter Valley coalfields of Australia and was designed to meet specific requirements of dragline operators.

RollaPath™

rollApath utilises a multiple ultrasonic transducer array placed in a vacant roller position to scan the rail width. All rails, both top and bottom are scanned at least twice by rollApath over their full length. Data acquisition equipment is mounted externally on the roller cage in the space between the tub and the revolving frame. Data is digitised and permanently stored on the computerised test unit.
